"We Believe"

Our life, our strength, and our hope are found in Christ, and everything we do is centered around His Word and the Grace He bestows upon us through the Sacraments. Each day begins with school-wide prayer by students, daily Gospel readings, and prayerful reflection. Morning prayers continue in individual classrooms, where students and teachers experience new and different forms of prayer, offer up personal intentions, and ask the intercession of saints and martyrs, promoting a strong knowledge of the history and culture of the Church.

Daily religion lessons, traditional Catholic devotions throughout the year, and frequent classroom visits from our pastor create a faith-filled environment where all subjects and life experiences are taught and experienced within a Catholic world view. Students attend Mass weekly, where younger Kindergarten and First Grade students are paired with "Mass buddies" from upper grades, who provide sound models for reverent and respectful behavior during Mass. Many opportunities exist to share in the worship experience of the Church, including youth choir and altar service. The life of the Church is also celebrated on various feast days, especially Holy Days of Obligation, when attending Mass is emphasized, reminding the children that it is our first duty to love, serve, and offer our thanks to God.

Teachers, as good stewards of our Catholic faith, must also continue to grow in their spiritual lives and knowledge of the faith. In addition to carrying a valid State License or Alternative Licensure Certification, teachers also take additional credit hours covering assorted topics pertaining to the Catholic faith to maintain their catechetical certification. Our faculty and staff are visible models of liturgical participation, many serving as extraordinary ministers at school and weekend Masses, and others involved in and holding leadership roles within other parish ministries.

We support parents, as the primary educators of their children in the enrichment of their own faith, to better prepare them to meet the needs of their children's spiritual lives and provide faithful models of the Christian life. In addition to school events celebrating many aspects of the Catholic life, parents are encouraged to participate in their child's sacrament preparation and discuss daily religion lessons. School newsletters and announcements also frequently offer interesting information about Church history, culture, and teaching because we believe the best teachers are those armed with the knowledge of Truth.
