Dress Code

All students (K-8) attending Saint Bernadette Catholic School will be expected to abide by the uniform dress code established by the school. The uniform of Saint Bernadette Catholic School reflects the seriousness and importance of learning and our pride in being members of this school community. Parents are expected to monitor student dress to ensure compliance with the required uniform. Occasionally, students will be allowed "Out of uniform" days. Parents will be notified of these occasions in advance. Uniform items should be clearly marked with the student's name.

All clothing should be clean, fit and in presentable condition (no holes, fraying or stains). All items with a waist band must sit at the waist.
            - Belts are required for grades 2-8 and must be plain leather (or imitation)
            - No chains, ribbons, etc. If the student's pants/shorts have belt loops,
              a belt must be worn.
            - K-1 should not wear a belt
            - Preschool students – uniforms are optional

SLACKS/SHORTS/SKORTS

Plain navy blue/khaki shorts or pants (twill only - no denim, cords, etc. No ornaments, extra pockets, buckles, etc. are permitted. No jean cut, low ride, hip-hugger, or cargo/painter type pants are allowed. No sagging, bagging, torn, or split pants. No flair or bell bottom pants will be allowed. All slacks must be straight cut only. No pants may be worn below the heel of the shoe. Walking shorts/skorts should be knee or fingertip length. Navy/khaki skorts must be purchased from Dennis Uniform Company.

JUMPER/SKIRTS

Girls in grads K-5 may wear a blue-gray plaid jumper which must be purchased from Dennis Uniform Company. Grades 6-8 may wear a blue-gray plaid skirt which must be purchased from Dennis Uniform Company. Jumpers and skirts should be knee or fingertip length.

SHIRTS

White, powder blue or navy knit pullover with collar. White or powder blue oxford, long or short sleeved shirts may be worn. Navy blue knit pullover with he "St. Bernadette" logo purchased from Tee-riffic Promotions may also be worn. Shirts purchased from Dennis Uniform may have the logo applied at their store if you ask for it.

SWEATSHIRTS

Navy blue sweatshirts or windshirts with an embroidered "St. Bernadette" logo may be worn. These must be purchased from Tee-riffic Promotions.

SOCKS

Solid white or navy blue socks or tights must be worn.

SHOES

Tennis shoes or flat heeled dress shoes. No sandals. For safety reasons, platform shoes are not acceptable.

HATS

Caps or hats are not to be worn in school or church.

HAIR

Girls' and boys' hair is to be clean and neatly combed. Fad (i.e. such as bow, tails, shaved heads, etc.) haircuts are not acceptable. For boys, no hair below the collar. For boys and girls, no hair that covers the eyes. Hair may not be dyed, bleached, streaked or highlighted. For boys, no facial hair or sideburns are permitted.

EARRINGS

Earrings will not be allowed for boys. Girls will be allowed to wear no more than two pair of earrings. No dangle or large hoop earrings will be allowed. NO OTHER BODY PIERCING ALLOWED.

JEWELRY

Appropriate jewelry may be worn.

NAILS

No acrylic nails or nail extensions are permitted. Clear or light colored nail polish may be worn.

MAKEUP

No makeup is allowed.
